Hello Scorpio season, with your intensity and deep attachments. As we usher in Halloween, Samhain, and Day of the Dead Celebrations — all of which are Scorpio’s jam — we open ourselves to deep discussion, uncomfortable topics, spooky stuff, and piercing intuition. This past weekend’s Full Moon in Taurus and Lunar Eclipse was packed with deeper meaning about what is mine versus yours — how do we utilize and share (or not share) resources and who benefits? Scorpio says, no surface level chitchat or uninformed ranting, there is only space for introspection and discovery. Let’s have real truth, no passive-aggressive him-hawing — let’s get right to it! Unless, of course, you are turning that scrutiny onto me, then I may get mean because I do not like to feel vulnerable! I’m in control, says Scorpio. But the Moon has sway, adding a new flavor as it moves signs every 2 - 2.5 days. As I type this, Luna is in Gemini for All Hallow’s Eve! Don’t dish it out if you can’t take it, says Gemini. Then the Moon moves into Cancer, double water sky, for November 1-2 — heightened emotions, awareness, intuition and attachments. Be careful what you say out loud or send in written form — keep it nice and light for the rest of the week as there is extra weight placed on everything being communicated at this time.
There is so much in the Collective right now, so much fear and sadness and rage and pain. It’s coming from all directions. What is happening in one place is indicative of what is happening to all of us inside. As Above, So Below — As Within, So Without. The wars within are the wars without. When do we finally NOT retaliate after being hurt by others? When? Who will be the first nation to NOT go to war when attacked? When do we, humans, finally learn the lessons of others before creating the same mistakes ourselves? You can absolutely Observe another and observe their lesson, take heed of it and not actually have to experientially learn it for yourself. Why would you want to have to experience every lesson individually when you can learn from others?
A new consciousness is rubbing up against an old consciousness — destruction of old makes way for construction of new. It’s a messy business but it’s a long time coming. You may have been feeling off lately or just a sense in the pit of your stomach that things are not in flow. The reason you feel like things are different now is because they are. Metaphysical, spiritual, esoteric and occultist practitioners and scholars have been speaking on this shift for hundreds (thousands) of years. The shift when we start to evolve upwards and accept the genius technology of this human body and all its energy fields — how it can interact with the technology we create outside of ourselves.
While the civilized world has always had struggles, calamities, wars and human injustices the likes of which bring about the cries of “end of days,” what is different now is the sheer volume of people alive on the planet. Our Collective is massive. Light beings and devas are here ushering in the vibration for transformation. We have finally reached a pinnacle of energy and vibration that will move our Collective into its next phase, something that includes our advancing technologies. In science they talk about “the singularity” the moment our technology surpasses human intelligence. Nothing to fear, we were designed to merge. Ethics and morality need a boost, however.
Spooky season has jumped up into the Psyche of all. What does it mean this year, why does it feel like there is more to it? Because there is so much more. As we honor our dearly departed at this time when the veil is the thinnest, the dead are increasing at a rapid rate, newly departed all the time awakening on the Other Side. It is only after death that we see what is really going on, how close it all is, right here where we can touch it — but in a manifested body, it’s invisible. The great trick of our existence — to believe what you cannot experience with your senses, what you cannot see or hear or touch. Often we can FEEL things inside us — we just dismiss it because the seeing and touching is so powerful and often negates our other sensory experiences.
Well, the Spirits are here y’all, so say “hello” and welcome in those who have moved on. Embrace the reality of death as part of life. This is a shared human experience and at this time of year we get to talk directly to it.
Scorpio is the Scorpion, vulnerable exoskeleton that makes it look quite intimidating. The outer body has to be shed regularly. Death. Transformation. Rebirth. Astrologically and therefore archetypically, Pluto — the great transformer, the paradigm destroyer, takes our shadow, our negativity, our sins and evils — and distills it to the surface so we are forced to face it. Once we face it, we can shed what needs to die and use the rest as fertilizer for new seeds of possibility. Pluto rules Scorpio so we are shrouded in this energy.
As last weekend’s Eclipse highlighted what is mine versus yours, what is to be shared and who decides, so does Pluto heighten that question in the psyche of everyone. The paradigm has been that few benefit while many toil. At this time, Pluto is also switching signs from Capricorn to Aquarius over the next year — back and forth — until it lands in Aquarius for 20 years in November 2024. Capricorn likes to save for a rainy day and favors following rules to creating new ones. Aquarius on the other hand, is the rebellious one who wants to try new things and has an eye for the greater community. Both can be quite rigid and unmoving in their views on what is best “for all” and Pluto is dancing back and forth between the both of them for the next year. I am taking heed to talk to my Spiritual guides and my Ancestors to ask for their guidance, protection and love for the transformation taking place inside myself and the greater world. We have much to hold on this container of Earth.
This Scorpio season we are tasked with looking at our own purpose. People in the metaphysical and wellness worlds talk nonstop about purpose. What is my purpose, your purpose, our highest purpose, the purpose of existence? I’ve always felt I’ve had one as a communicator, writer, storyteller, someone who touches the lives of others through my words and shining a light on the stories of others — to show humanity to each other through each other. I love to muse and will continue doing that but there is so much work left to do, work I’ve started and stopped.
Let this Scorpio season remind you of the high and low road of its sign — Surrender and Control. Where do you need more surrender and where do you need more control?
Thank you Ancestors and Guides — I feel them here and I am stronger than ever! Joyous New Year of the Soul, dearest Scorpio, bringer of truth and dispeller of illusions — let me surrender to the process of my own unfoldment.
Samhain (pronounced sow-in, like cow-in) is known as the Celtic New Year and is observed October 31 - November 1. It’s the final harvest of three harvests (Lamas, Mabon, Samhain) before the seasons (in the Northern Hemisphere) grow cold and quiet. This time of year is sacred and in the same way Spring brings forth new life at Beltane, Samhain honors the passing of old life, of death and decay as part of the blessed cycle of life, death and rebirth.
The Mexican holiday, thousands of years old, Dia de los Muertos is about celebrating the lives of those who are no longer with us — keeping their memories alive with altars, festive gatherings, elaborate dresses and painted faces, themes of death with vibrant colors to merge living and dead. It’s celebrated from Oct. 31 - Nov. 2 and the tradition is that the souls come back to commune with the living on Nov. 1, marked with celebrations before, during and after they leave on November 2. It’s not a version of Halloween, but it is similar to the modern day All Saints Day in Catholicism which is observed on Nov. 1 — acknowledging the connection between Heaven and Earth, Body and Spirit.
Whatever you observe, these three days October 31 - November 2 are powerful portals for greater connection beyond our seen world here on earth. Take advantage of it with more than just candy and costumes — think on these themes and how honoring the scary things, acknowledging death and lost loved ones, and the finite time we have here — is a beautiful way to integrate the cosmic and spiritual energy coming in.
As you contemplate these concepts, simply observe what you think and feel. It’s a wonderful time to journal, write to a dead loved one or look at old pictures or videos. We honor our dead because we are still here, because they live on through us and our thoughts about them, even if they are Spirit long gone from here, their essence can still touch — and I truly believe they can come closer and visit when needed!
Samhain and Day of the Dead Blessings
As the light of the Full (soon-to-be-waning) Moon washes over the night on Halloween, open to the magic of Samhain and Day of the Dead. On October 31 - November 2 souls freely visit us and offer guidance and sometimes mischief. Find time to reflect on your ancestry and this thing called life. Be respectful, offer treats and dispel tricks with a few household items that promote positive energy in the home.

Call to your Sacred Ancestors by name and let them know how much you love them. Speak a memory that you hold dear and picture it in your mind. Picture receiving a hug or embrace from however you commune with and thank them for their visit. Offer food or flowers and light a candle to contain and integrate the energy,

My intentions on this Samhain with my Sacred Ancestors who are here with me, whose love I can feel wrapped around me, in my aura, around my body — is to recapitulate back toward what I started years ago. I have so many stories and wonderful interviews with a myriad of everyday people who openly share their ideas and thoughts. Content that can no longer be hidden or pushed back. More content for you, dear readers, and for me — more opportunity for feedback as I put myself more and more out there — eek, the thing that terrifies me most — the Collective in the raw! Scorpio doesn’t like vulnerability yet it is in surrender that we find our true power.
May you dance with Spirit and Grace as the veil lifts for communion. May you be visited in your dreams and waking states by those who have gone before, may you feel the ancestors of your family, your greater spiritual family and those of all who have walked the path of this world before us. Cross the threshold as we prepare for the slowing of winter in this seasonal New Year.
Happy Samhain, Happy Halloween, Feliz Dia de los Muertos — Scorpio help us reach deep past the threshold, beyond the veil, to see how connected we are, always.
